Food for Thought receives donation of over $7,500 from visiting group Sober Vacations International
On Thursday 27 January 2022 Food for Thought founders Karen and Jeanne met with the Sober Vacations team at Club Med Turkoise, where they were presented with a generous donation of $7,835.
Sober Vacations International (SVI) is a specialised travel company dedicated to providing alcohol-free vacations for sober individuals and their loved ones. Following its inaugural trip in 1988, SVI now hosts an average of six trips a year which span across the globe: from Alaska to Africa, Puerto Vallarta to Prague and numerous spectacular locales in between.
The donation was made up of individual guest contributions and the live auction of a lovely piece of art created by a number of the guests during the course of their stay. In addition to the monetary contributions, several SVI guests donated non-perishable breakfast/snack items for Food for Thought’s Food Bank Programme which feeds 180 students per day.
Karen and Jeanne wish to express their appreciation for the generous donation, which will go towards supporting Food for Thought’s programmes throughout the Turks & Caicos Islands.
“We are so grateful to Max, Rebecca and Steve on the Sober Vacations team for choosing Food for Thought as this trip’s charity of choice, and for all the time and planning that went into raising funds. A massive thank you also goes to all the guests who took time out of their holiday to learn about what we do, and who kindly contributed. This kindness keeps us going.”
