Distributing Breakfast Boxes
On Friday 20 March all schools in Turks & Caicos closed down by order of the government, in response to the news that COVID-19 had made its way to our shores. The following week, the country entered several weeks of 24-hour curfew.
During the curfew Food for Thought sought the necessary permissions and was able to arrange one round of food distribution – thanks to our kind partners Sunny Foods and Lew 1 Shipping, and our selfless and wonderful volunteers. 110 “Breakfast Boxes” (containing fruit, milk, bread, cereal and more, with enough breakfast for a family of five for two weeks) were distributed to families in need on North, Middle and South Caicos.
Shortly after the lockdown restrictions were relaxed, we were able to send a second round of Breakfast Boxes, following an amazing wave of donations from our supporters.
